We offer international volunteers the opportunity to engage in our educational, social, and intercultural activities in Aalen, Berlin, and Brandenburg. Our work focuses on peace education, global learning, intercultural exchange, youth participation, and support for people with refugee and migration backgrounds.
As part of our international team, volunteers support both local and international projects and become actively involved in community-based activities together with our staff, partners, and other volunteers. They assist in the organisation of seminars, trainings, workshops, intercultural encounters, and educational activities taking place at the Um-Welthaus Aalen as well as in different project locations in Berlin and Brandenburg.
Volunteers are also involved in activities supporting children, young people, and families, including tutoring and learning support programs, especially in the areas of language learning and mathematics. They can support holiday activities, children’s programs, excursions, creative workshops, and community events for families and young people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

In addition, volunteers may contribute to practical and community-oriented projects together with our local partners, including the bike repair workshop, activities connected to the Tafelladen / Food Bank in Aalen, and support activities at the initial reception centre in Giengen. Depending on their interests and skills, volunteers are encouraged to develop and implement their own small initiatives and projects during their volunteering experience.
We support volunteers in finding accommodation in and around the city and assist them during the process of settling into their new environment. We also encourage volunteers to organise their own social, cultural, and bonding activities together and, whenever possible, support connections and exchanges with other international volunteers and young people in Aalen and nearby cities.
We also organise excursions, exchanges, and learning activities that allow volunteers to explore German society, history, culture, and local communities together with other participants and project partners.
Volunteers are expected to begin learning German before their arrival and continue improving their language skills during their stay through daily practice, language support, and interaction with local communities.
We are a sending and hosting organisation for international volunteering programs and have been working closely with partner organisations in the South Caucasus and the Great Lakes Region (including Uganda and Rwanda) for many years. Together with our long-standing partners, we develop and implement projects in the areas of peace education, intercultural learning, sustainability, and civic participation.
We send volunteers through the IJFD (International Youth Voluntary Service) and the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Further information about the different programs can be found on the official program websites.

In general, volunteers begin their service on 1 September each year for a period of 12 months. Applications, including a CV and motivation letter, can be sent to [bewerbung@act4transformation.net]. This is followed by the selection and preparation process. Depending on the program and individual circumstances, shorter volunteering periods or different departure dates may also be possible, for example, for university students or special cases.
Before departure, volunteers take part in preparatory seminars, which may be organised online, in a hybrid format, or in person, depending on the context. During their volunteer service, they are also supported through additional seminars, mentoring, and exchange opportunities.

We offer the opportunity to do an internship with us, e.g. before or during your studies or as part of a European exchange program, Cross Culture Programme or within other programs.
At Cross Culture Programme you can name us as a partner organization and clarify your goals and activities with us. The aim of the CrossCulture program is to strengthen civil society networks between Germany and the world in the long term and to gain experience with partners in Germany. For a scholarship, the application must be made directly to the program.
